How to commission a portrait
From your initial enquiry to the moment your artwork is delivered, the process is designed to be professional, personalised, and seamless.
Commissions are drawn with coloured pencils using high quality, archival pencils and paper.
- Reach out via the enquiry form, email or social media to discuss your commission and reserve your space
- Share reference photos, preferred portrait size, and any specific requests.
- a 25% non-refundable deposit secures your place in Charlie’s diary. The remaining balance is due the month you'd like the drawing for.
- Monthly payment plans available (up to 6 months) – ask when booking.
- Please get in touch sooner rather than later for commissions wanted for a certain date as there is usually a waitlist, but I will do my best to work to your timeframe.
Reference photos
A high-quality reference photo is key to creating a detailed, lifelike portrait.
Best Photo Guidelines:
✅ Natural lighting – outdoor or well-lit indoor spaces work best.
✅ Close-up & sharp focus – avoid zooming in or cropping.
❌ No screenshots or pre-cropped images – these reduce quality.

If you live close to Nottingham, for an additional fee Charlie can come and take the photo for you - dependent on location and availability.
Completion & postage
Regular updates keep you informed every step of the way.
See photos of your finished portrait before it’s finalised. Each piece is signed and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
Your drawing is carefully packaged and shipped flat or rolled, depending on size and destination.
